Denzel Washington has always been a good actor to watch, with decent to sometimes good movies. However, I’ve always been fascinated by Mark Wahlberg, ever since I saw The Big Hit (Wikipedia/IMDB) in my college days. How does this guy consistently have roles that involve deadpan humor and funny blank stares?
It’s not that Marky Mark hasn’t had serious roles without any comedy involved, but he sure has a knack for playing the earnest badass. There must be some movie trope term for this that I don’t know about. What is it?
There’s nothing particularly special about 2 Guns; it’s a typical buddy-cop action-comedy. It involves two apparent criminals who one day suddenly discover each other to be undercover agents–one for the DEA and the other for Navy intelligence. This happens after they rob a bank where they expect $3 million stashed by
Commander William Adama a Mexican cocaine kingpin, but end up finding $43.125 million and not knowing why or who it actually belongs to.
While none of the plot twists nor the movie overall is likely going to be memorable, for about an hour and a half, you’ll enjoy some great chemistry and silly wisecracks (often about penises) between the two leads. Along the way, chickens are tortured (@0:08:50) and someone pisses on their own hands (@1:04:35). It’s all good fun and entertainment.
